TOGETHER WE …BUT WE’RE NOT FINISHED YET. OUR NEW GOAL OF $600K WOULD HELP US REACH MORE FAMILIES IN NEED. MAKE A DONATION TODAY TO ASSIST!
COVID-19 has hit our world hard. As I watched the news and read the updates, I knew it was important for me to help families here in Washington, D.C. my second home. I have always used my platform to support those in need and I will remain committed to giving back to the communities around me.
I am proud to announce the 202 Assist, a four-week rent relief fundraiser for Ward 8 families. The Ward 8 community is special to me. It is where I train and practice with my teammates. It’s also where I get to work with the families of Bright Beginnings on so many special events.
The John Wall Family Foundation is excited to work with Housing Counseling Services and Lydia’s House for this program. These are two organizations that fight every day for Ward 8 families. I hope you will assist me in raising funds for these families impacted by the D.C. Rent Crisis and COVID-19. Any amount donated will help us make a difference.
Thank you,
*ATTENTION APPLICANTS: We have received an influx of 202 Assist applications and are responding to them in the order they were submitted. We appreciate your patience as we work diligently to provide you with relief.*

Housing Counseling Services (HCS) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization founded in 1972 to provide comprehensive housing counseling, training, advocacy and technical assistance for low and moderate-income homebuyers, homeowners, tenants and the homeless; to help them to achieve successful living in healthy, safe, and affordable homes. Our goal is to prevent homelessness, support individual goals in achieving housing stability and increase access to sustainable housing opportunities by helping our clients to hone their skills, build self-esteem and establish the necessary empowerment within families and communities to generate long-term solutions. HCS works to build the individual and group capacity for economic, physical, and social development of families, homes, neighborhoods and communities.
Lydia’s House started with two people, a single vision and a sack of potatoes. In 1989, Pastors Eugene and Patrice Sheppard left comfortable jobs in a safe community and moved to Bellevue, in an attempt to make a difference in the lives of Washington, D.C.’s poorest men, women, and children. They began their work by handing out potatoes from the backseat of their car. Founded by Pastors Eugene; Patrice Sheppard in 1990. Lydia’s House is a Washington, D.C. based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to Growing Children, Strengthening Families and Changing Neighborhoods. Lydia’s House takes a holistic approach to community development by providing social services, emotional support and educational resources that address the needs of low-income and at-risk families at every stage of the poverty cycle.
